GIDAYVirtual Reception

A receptionist for the sparkie who's in a ceiling when the whole street rings

No power is urgent and a new power point isn't, and the phone doesn't know the difference. Giday does: puts the first straight through to you, books the second into your calendar, and quotes the switchboard upgrade from your price list on the plans that include it. Your 24/7 receptionist. From $49 a month — first week free.

What a call actually sounds like

A realistic call, the way Giday runs it:

Giday: Giday, you've reached Ampere Electrical — Verity speaking, on a recorded line. How can I help you?

Caller: Hi, we've lost power to half the house and the safety switch keeps tripping.

Giday: That sounds like one for today. A fault call-out is $150 for the first hour — that's an estimate based on what you've told me, and Sam will confirm on site. Sam can be there between 2 and 5 today. Would that work?

Caller: Yes please.

Giday: Between 2 and 5 today. Your name, the address and best mobile for a confirmation? And is anyone home to let Sam in?

What happened: A same-day window, the call-out from Sam's list with Sam's hedge, a text to the customer, a text to Sam. A caller describing sparks or a burning smell would have been put through at once.

Emergency, quote or booking — sorted in the first minute

A electrician's calls come in three kinds, and Giday works out which it has early:

  • It's urgent. No power to the house, a burning smell, sparks from a switchboard. If you've set urgent calls to patch, the caller is put straight through to your nominated number, day or night. If you've left it blank, it takes the details and texts you a priority message. Urgent calls never sit in a queue.
  • They want a price. On the Busy plan and up it quotes from your approved price list — one honest number, hedged as an estimate confirmed on site. Anything not on the list becomes a message for you to price. On smaller plans it states any fee you've published and takes a message for the rest.
  • They want a booking. The new power point, the ceiling fan, the quote for the switchboard: your next real arrival window, in the suburbs you nominate, booked and confirmed by text.

After hours, honestly

Outside your hours one of two things happens, and you choose which: book for the next day, or patch genuine emergencies to you and book everything else for the morning. No surcharge either way. The 2am call costs what the 2pm one does.

Where it fits

  • Overflow. You keep answering; Giday picks up what rings out while you're with a job.
  • Before open and after close. Divert at close, divert back at open. The 7:50am rebook is in the calendar before you've unlocked.
  • All the time. The one-person business with no front desk.

Bookings land in your calendar through a subscription feed any calendar app reads, and by text. On the Busy plan and up they can go into ServiceM8 too. There's no link into other salon, grooming or job software yet; if you run one, bookings reach you by calendar and by text, not inside it.

Which plan fits

Every plan answers 24/7, books into your calendar and takes messages. The difference is minutes and machinery: Starter $49 for a solo electrician with a handful of calls a day, Steady $99 to read your live calendar and keep transcripts, Busy $199 to quote from your price list and link ServiceM8, Flat Out $399 for custom call flows and the on-call roster. All AUD with GST, month to month, no setup fee. The full table is on the pricing page.

Give it a go

Sixty minutes of call time on us, for a week. Card up front, nothing charged, and the clock doesn't start until your receptionist answers its first call. Setup takes minutes: your business name, what you do, your hours, your services with how long each takes, and your receptionist is live on its own Australian number. Divert is one dial code.

Straight answers

What does it do if someone says there's a burning smell?
That's urgent: the caller is put through to your nominated number at any hour, or if you've left it blank, a priority text reaches you at once.
Can it quote a switchboard upgrade?
If you've put a standard price on your approved list, on Busy and up, hedged as an estimate confirmed on site. Anything that needs a look gets booked as a quote visit.
Will it pretend to be a person?
Never. Ask and it says it's your virtual receptionist, straight away. Every call opens on a recorded line. Anyone who wants a human is put through to you or leaves a priority message.
Can it quote my electrician prices?
On the Busy plan and up, from a price list you approve, item by item, hedged in words that suit your kind of business. It never estimates, never adds two prices together, and takes a message for anything not on the list. On smaller plans it states any fee you've published and takes a message for the rest.
What if I'm fully booked?
You set how many jobs you can run at once — one per chair, table, van or person — and it only offers a time when there's genuinely room. Your own calendar entries block time outright.
